Many teams use center channel attacks from time to time. But some put their main attacking focus here.

The center channel attack works with players constantly rotating through the “hole.” This is the area at the top of the D. This is the most dangerous place from which to attack: the distance to goal is shortest, it is within shooting range, and any quick move that successfully leaves a defender behind will likely result in a shot or goal.

There are two key components to the center channel offense:

·         getting the ball into the “hole”

·         getting it out again
